After proudly displaying her thumbs so many times on pictures that she has snapped for
this Web site, my Mom has finally taken the step to give names to them. Here, Mom's
left thumb, named "Siskel," and her right thumb, "Ebert," react
enthusiastically to this year's Thomas family Father's Day celebration.
The guests of honor: Grandpa, Uncle Earl and my Dad. Thanks go
out to the anonymous hand that's pushing Dad into frame against his will. Dad was
reluctant to pose, fearing that a Father's Day photo would constitute official proof that
he took part in unleashing me upon the world.
I am often asked to explain the origins of my "madness." I have no idea
what people mean by that. Oh well ... here are some pictures of my Grandfather and
his invention, "The Wheeler Dealer," an ingenious toy truck/playing card caddie
combination. Why this man has yet to win a Nobel Prize simply boggles my mind.
Figuring that a giant impression of Mom's thumb would probably obscure
the image beyond recognition anyway, Dad lets her snap this picture of him with his mouth
full.
Some candid photos, as Mom, Aunt Liv and Marguerite join the cast. These reaction
shots were taken as Grandpa announced his intention to spend his entire retirement savings
bringing his "Wheeler Dealer" invention to market.
It required a new DVD player as a bribe, but Dad finally willfully
poses for a jeffthomas.com Father's Day picture!
